Family of slain Scots mum plead with Greek cops to arrest murder suspect 15 years after her death

A detective hired to solve a mum’s slaying in Crete 15 years ago has pinpointed a murder suspect.

Victim Jean Hanlon’s loved ones have urged cops to arrest a Greek man who had a “clear motive” — according to their private investigator.

Michael Porter, 39, who has spent more than £17,000 pursuing the killer with brothers Robert and David, demanded justice for mum Jean, from Dumfries.

He insisted: “We believe we have evidence mum was murdered by this man.

“We’ve waited 15 years and we have to move swiftly now.”

Michael told how his family turned to the detective as a “last resort” after police on the Greek isle failed to find the killer despite three probes.

Their PI spent months interviewing Jean’s friends and neighbours plus poring over her detailed diaries for clues about her final days.

He compiled a 29-page evidence dossier which has been passed to authorities.

Michael explained: “He’s done some incredible research which hadn’t been done during the original investigation.

“This man had a clear motive. All the evidence points to it being this person.”

Cops initially believed Jean, 53, accidentally drowned — after her body was found at Heraklion harbour in June 2009.

But relatives pushed for a second post mortem which revealed she’d suffered a broken neck plus shattered ribs, punctured lung and facial injuries.
